Over a year ago, in 2019, the Cruelty-Free Cosmetic Act, Bill S-214 died. This means that rabbits, rats, mice and guinea pigs can still be used to test cruel cosmetics in Canada. Bill S-214 would have accomplished two things:
- made it illegal to test cosmetic products and their ingredients on animals in Canada; and
- banned the sale of cosmetic products that had been newly animal tested on animals in other parts of the world.
Canada needs to act now and join the forty other countries that have implemented cosmetic animal testing bans.
Animal Alliance and the Animal Protection Party work to
support the Humane Society International initiatives to
urge the federal government to make this issue a priority and
pass a bill that bans cosmetic animal testing before the next election.
We urgently need your help to make this happen.
Please write to the Minister of Health, the Honourable Patty Hajdu. Let her know that you support a ban on cosmetic animal testing and urge her to implement the legislation as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your support and compassion and for responding to our requests.
Together we can make this life saving legislation happen.
Please send your message to Minister Hajdu today:

Please pass the law to ban animal use in testing cosmetics.
This is an inhuman unethical and scientifically unecessary practice that shamefully Canada has been continuing to enforce.
Compassion is not one of Canada’s strong points. Our animals are treated deplorable in all facets of our society and our pathetic government and its leaders continue to ignore pleas by animal advocates and animal right activists and parties who fight to stop animal abuse in all forms whether it be in labs, on factory farms or in dairy industry and ranching and slaughter houses. The problem is out of control and no one in government has the decency to care. What are we teaching our children?
Shame on you Canada. Our government supports animal cruelty, gives them lots of money but has no caring fir tge innocent animals.
Not until we ban all these horrendous forms if cruelty, and there are many in Canada rodeos, seal hunting, and hunting in general, fish farming the list goes on we Canada will not have the respect of the world or the forty other countries whom have already banned animal testing, or the respect of any decent kind or compassionate members of society.
Trudy Pinter says
Canada urgently needs to act in joining 40 other countries in implementing a ban on cosmetic animal testing. Ending this cruelty will positively effect our nation, show our compassion and concern for our environment and the world around us.
I urge you to implement this ban as quickly as possible and make Canada one the leaders in this effort.
Thank you.
Tony Gelsthorpe says
it is disgusting to realize that we humans abuse and endanger innocent animals to “beautify ” ourselves for our vanity. How would you like to be maimed or killed for the benefit some other animal’s looks? It just is not in way fair to the animals.
Look at yourself and become humane.
Thanks, T.G.
