Art Auction featuring pieces by Barry Kent MacKay

work-bkm

Beavers are not only members of an iconic species; they are also environmental superheroes. We admire beavers for their ingenuity, resilience and hard work. Beavers are truly worthy of our admiration, protection and respect.

In honour of amazing beavers, we are pleased to offer our friends and supporters an opportunity to bid on two original paintings that depict our national symbols. Each of these works is an expression of affection and esteem for beavers, created by respected fine artist, Barry Kent MacKay.

Barry Kent MacKay

Barry Kent MacKay is a dedicated animal advocate, birder, naturalist and fine artist. He is a founding member of Animal Alliance, as well as serving on other boards of animal advocacy organizations. He has been interested in watching and learning about animals from early childhood. Later in life, his passion for observing and depicting animals evolved into his dedication to protect them.

Barry’s artwork has been featured in publications like National Audubon, Ontario Naturalist, Bird Watcher’s Digest and more.  As well he creates illustrations for scientific journals and documents. Barry’s sensitive painting of Double-crested Cormorants graces the cover of a book by scientist Linda Wires, called “The Double-crested Cormorant: Plight of a Feathered Pariah.” This cover painting is just one example of how Barry uses his artistic talent to advocate for wild animals.

Barry regularly writes blogs for Born Free USA, Zoocheck, and Animal Alliance of Canada. The number of animal protection organizations that he has contributed to is too long to list here. So we urge you to read his impressive resume at his website.

Barry has been an essential part of the AAC family from our beginning. He continues to serve with us as an active board member, writer, researcher, and adviser.

We know that the successful bidders will enjoy the beauty of these original oil paintings by Barry. The paintings are titled “ Work” and “Play”.
