Animals in Research, Teaching and Testing

Over 150,000 animals are used in research, teaching and testing in post-secondary education and training every year in Canada with approximately one third subjected to extremely painful procedures.

In a survey that was commissioned by the Alliance of Canada Fund (AAC Fund) in January 2023, it was revealed that:

– 82% of Canadians believe more should be done to reduce the use of animals in education and training.

– 78% of Canadians want the practice of pound seizure stopped, (pound seizure is the taking of dogs and cats from pounds and shelters.)

– 75% of Canadians feel there should be consequences for institutions that continue to approve the use of animals when alternatives exist.

How You Can Help!

  1. Join us and help end the use of animals in research, teaching and testing. The foundation of a winning campaign is sound planning and preparation, starting with budgeting.  Please take the time to consider becoming a donor.
  2. Speak out to help modernize how research, teaching and testing is conducted in Canada.
