On June 22nd Liz along with Troy from HSI and Carleen from LUSH Cosmetics celebrated in Montreal with LUSH staff. Your support and generosity helped make this victory for animals a reality. Federal Bill C-47, which contains provisions that ban the use of animals for cosmetics testing, has passed in the Senate and is now law!
That means that the testing and trade of cosmetics that are tested on animals is now banned in Canada! The amendments will also prohibit selling cosmetics that rely on new animal testing data to establish the product’s safety, and false or misleading labelling pertaining to the testing of cosmetics on animals.
I asked you all to stand with us as we fought hard to end this abuse of animals. And, you answered my call.

Animal Alliance of Canada was honoured to be a partner in the fight to end cosmetics testing on animals which was led by Humane Society International and HSI Canada and through the generosity and commitment of Lush Cosmetics. Numerous other allies participated in this long battle. We faced many road-blocks, delays, and numerous disappointments, but finally we have won.

This is a big step toward a broader discussion about reducing and ultimately eliminating the use of animals in testing, teaching and training and biomedical research. As we continue to fight for every last animal still being abused and harmed in research and testing, I know that you will stand with us for them too.
Today, we can be thankful for this great success. We are part of a caring team of advocates and allies across the nation and the world, working for animals.
