Over a year ago, in 2019, the Cruelty-Free Cosmetic Act, Bill S-214 died. This means that rabbits, rats, mice and guinea pigs can still be used to test cruel cosmetics in Canada. Bill S-214 would have accomplished two things:
- made it illegal to test cosmetic products and their ingredients on animals in Canada; and
- banned the sale of cosmetic products that had been newly animal tested on animals in other parts of the world.
Canada needs to act now and join the forty other countries that have implemented cosmetic animal testing bans.
Animal Alliance and the Animal Protection Party work to
support the Humane Society International initiatives to
urge the federal government to make this issue a priority and
pass a bill that bans cosmetic animal testing before the next election.
We urgently need your help to make this happen.
Please write to the Minister of Health, the Honourable Patty Hajdu. Let her know that you support a ban on cosmetic animal testing and urge her to implement the legislation as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your support and compassion and for responding to our requests.
Together we can make this life saving legislation happen.
Please send your message to Minister Hajdu today:
